Housing Association ‘Inter Vilvoordse’ is located in Vilvoorde, a town with 44.000 inhabitants and located 15 km north of Brussels. The “Vilvoordse Haard” (“Le Foyer Vilvordien”) was established on September 11, 1920. This makes it one of the oldest social housing companies in Flanders. In 1973 she merged with “De Woningnood” from Muizen (Mechelen) and in 1999 with “Machelse Huisvesting”.
Today the social housing company is known as “Inter-Vilvoordse Maatschappij voor Huisvesting” (IVMH), or simply Inter-Vilvoordse.
Inter-Vilvoordse is one of the few social housing companies with a field of action across two provinces. Vilvoorde and Machelen are located in Flemish Brabant, on the border with the Brussels-Capital Region. We find Mechelen in the province of Antwerp.
